What to Pack for a Long Weekend at Sapphire Shore
A practical packing list built around our pool deck, spa, and dining rooms, organized by season.
Guests tend to either over-pack for a resort weekend or forget the one thing that actually matters once they arrive. Here's what our housekeeping and front desk teams see guests wish they'd brought, broken down by what you're actually planning to do.
For the Gaming Floor & Simulcast Lounge
Smart casual covers almost everything on the gaming floor, but The Furlong Room does ask for slightly more if you're planning dinner there directly from the tables. A collared shirt or a nice top solves it for most guests without needing a separate outfit.
For the Pool Deck (April – October)
Beyond the obvious swimwear, guests consistently underpack sun protection for how exposed the main pool tier is in the afternoon. A wide-brim hat and reef-safe sunscreen go further here than most people expect, especially on the upper Quiet Tier where there's less shade structure.
For Bluestone Spa
Nothing required beyond what you're already bringing — robes, slippers, and towels are provided in every treatment room. If you're booking the Cedar Steam & Soak on its own, a swimsuit is worth packing for the indoor soaking pool.
The one thing guests consistently forget: a light layer for the Winner's Circle Lounge terrace, which cools off fast once the sun drops behind the ridgeline, even in summer.
For a Race Day
Comfortable closed-toe shoes matter more than almost anything else if you're planning to spend time at the rail. Layers help too — trackside can run noticeably cooler than the resort itself, especially in spring and fall.
For Winter Stays
The outdoor pool deck is closed, so swimwear isn't necessary unless you're using the indoor spa pool. A warmer coat is worth it if you're planning any time outside the main buildings, since the wind picks up noticeably along the open training-track fence line.
The Takeaway
Most of the resort runs casual, so you can pack lighter than you'd expect for a property with a steakhouse and a full gaming floor. The exceptions are sun protection in summer and a light jacket for the rooftop terrace — both worth the extra bag space.
