The People Behind the Front Desk
Sapphire Shore runs on a small group of department leads who've mostly been here since the resort's early years — several started on the front desk or the gaming floor and worked their way into the roles they hold now.
Diane Pruett
General Manager
Diane joined Sapphire Shore the year it opened and has led the property since 2019. She grew up on a farm fifteen minutes from the resort and still knows most of the trainers at the track by name.
Marcus Okafor
Executive Chef
Marcus oversees all five dining rooms and built The Furlong Room's menu around Shenandoah Valley beef and produce sourced within an hour of the resort.
Lena Tran
Spa & Wellness Director
Lena designed the Bluestone Spa's treatment menu around local Blue Ridge botanicals and trains every therapist on the property herself.
Roland Hicks
Gaming Floor Manager
Roland oversees table games, the poker room, and the simulcast lounge, and has worked gaming floors across three states before landing at Sapphire Shore in 2016.
Amara Keller
Director of Events
Amara plans everything from rehearsal dinners to 300-guest ballroom weddings, and can usually tell you the weather forecast for your event date before you ask.
Jordan Webb
Front Desk & Guest Services Lead
Jordan runs the front desk team and reservations desk, and is usually the first call when a guest wants a room changed to a better view of the track.
